To call Mike Tyson says, "is a phenomenon." No argument there: the ESPN ranked him tied for first in the world's top athletes-salary this year.
Pacquiao's fights are not normally fights. His battle with Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley, seesaws with Erik Morales and Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Márquez — with whom he would fight, for the third time, on November 12 in (where else) Vegas — show off your mortal without the same intensity. Against De La Hoya, few expected against the easy for the Philippines. Pacquiao, however, male-dominated with precision and speed.
It is ironic, on the road: Pacquiao has exploded onto the American scene in 2001 in the undercard of De La Hoya. Later, he was brought in as a late substitute for Enrique Sanchez IBF super bantamweight title bout in the 122-Pound champion Lehlohonolo Ledwaba of South Africa. Pacquiao is 32-2, but no one really knows who he is (George Foreman, commentating, repeatedly mispronounced his name.) After Pacquiao's rampant overwhelmed Ledwaba, however, Larry Merchant stated that "Ledwaba came here with the opportunity to be a star but it looks like Pacquiao might go into a real star." But it was not until November 2003, Pacquiao became a true American superstar with termination 11-round threatens Mexico Marco Antonio Barrera for the title of the feathers. Moving up in weight, Pacquiao silenced his skeptical and extended celebrity outside of Asia. Now he is a champion in three weight divisions, and six months later he fought the war classic against Mexico WBA featherweight champion Marquez. Fights, exciting, it's the biggest war in 2004.
In 2005 he moved up to super featherweight at 130 pounds and fight for the vacant WBC title to Morales. Losing the title he won from Hector band that year. The following year, he knocks out Morales in a rematch.
Pacquiao Marquez fight again in 2008 and won the decision, and in the same year moved to the lightweight to win the WBC against David Diaz. It was only after this that he has to fight De La Hoya in a welterweight, that is, at 147 pounds. Philippine racing through heavyweights as if they don't care. In 2009 he destroyed the Britons Ricky Hatton won the IBO light-welterweight title. There seems to be no one left to fight.
